2009

I have one prediction for the coming year. That 2009 will see more business model innovation than we have ever seen in a single year. We talk about the internet as the great leveller. I think we still have no idea how much of a leveller it really is. So if you believe that we're in more than a financial crisis, we're in a fundamental restructuring, if you believe that business models of the industrial era will be undermined by those from the information age, if you believe that the time is right for the next industrial revolution, this will be your year.

My hope is that we don't squander the massive opportunity we now have to redefine value creation in business and communication. To paraphrase JP, people want to be connected, not channelled.

    I agree with you that this will be a big year for business model innovation. Also, because I am writing a book on the topic this year. The book itself will be based on an innovative business model…
    I’ve seen the demand for systematic approaches to achieve business model innovation increase strongly in 2008 and think 2009 will be even better.
