Hackschooling

This is an amazingly mature and insightful TEDx talk from 13 year old Logan LaPlante, who talks about how poorly the modern education system is aligned to what most of us want – learning how to be happy and healthy ("Most education is orientated, for better or worse, towards making a living rather than making a life"). Logan describes how he has 'hacked' his own education, using the work of Dr Robert Walsh as inspiration, incorporating Walsh's eight areas that contribute to health and happiness: exercise; diet and nutrition; time in nature; contribution and service; relationships; recreation; relaxation and stress management; religious and spiritual. The way in which he's brought that to life through his own education is rather fascinating, and pretty compelling.
