Mapping the internet (2)

Digg have developed a dynamic mapping tool which tracks conversations as they happen across the internet, live. It’s fascinating and slightly addictive to watch. This one represents how many diggs are being recorded as a stack, showing diggers falling from above and stacking up on active stories. This one represents the diggs as they happen in a dynamic map, with Diggers clustering around stories as they are posted. It struck me how powerful this concept is for brands. Imagine being able to track the word of mouth sparked by your campaign and see people cluster around it in real-time. Imagine being able to watch as those conversations grow and spread. Imagine being able to see who was joining the conversation as it happened…The thought is intriguing. The implications are quite mind boggling.
