The 10 Fastest Growing UK Websites

…by audience (sourced Nielsen, as reported):

Fastestgrowingsites

Two things strike me about this: First – I’m not surprised at all by the growth in the ‘pimp your profile’ sites (Rock You, Slide, Bunnyhero) but it does express again how technology is becoming a form of content in its own right; Second – Linked In. Don’t know about you but I’ve received more Linked In connect requests in the last six months than I had in the previous six years. And yet I’m not aware of much that they’ve done that’s different? So I’m left wondering whether this is a kind of ‘halo’ social network effect – in other words whether the level of critical mass and participation in networking means that more people are appreciating the generic value of being connected in this way and are applying it to more specialised networks like Linked In. Seems I’m not alone.

    Very interesting stats.
Of course the advantage of being a ‘widget’ is that you can count other site’s traffic in your ‘brand reach’… 🙂
I like the comment about technology being a form of content – I think you’re spot on.
