The "Chalk Farm Maid", one of Banksy’s most famous stencils had an addition last Sunday night – a fireplace – which someone had thoughtfully tacked onto the wall. Unfortunately it was unceremoniously removed faster than you can say "Upstairs Downstairs". What a shame. Wouldn’t it have been more fun to leave it there and see if anyone else wanted to contribute? At least for a bit? Participative art so-to-speak. Perhaps someone might have put a picture up, a lamp perhaps, a few ornaments on the mantelpiece, or maybe a bit of carpet on the pavement? Who knows, perhaps you might’ve ended up with a whole living room installation tacked onto a Chalk Farm wall. It’s got a bit of space after all…
