Think Tank Nominations – December 2008

ThinktankPOTM

Can hardly believe it but it's Post of The Month time again so nominations for the best posts of December are
officially open. Think about the best post you've read over the
last month and please nominate it by leaving a comment below with a
link. As usual, this is about recognising good thinking and writing so please
help spread the word to encourage more
nominations. Anything broadly concerned with the subjects discussed
everyday in the 'plannersphere', as long as it was posted in the month
of December. Nominations will close in a few days, following which I will open it up
for the vote. I'll be twittering the odd update as we go too. I'm also thinking about sticking up an ongoing list somewhere here to make a permanent reference of all the winners available for everyone (kind of like a Think Tank 'Hall of Fame' I guess) so let me know what you think of that idea.

As a starter for ten, I've picked out 4 of my own favourite posts below – please do nominate your own:

Generation 'Why' – from Valeria Maltoni

Planning Needs Some Planning – Gareth Kay – including his excellent presentation to the Brazilian APG (and supported by a related follow up post here)

Spreadable Media from Faris

Strategy: Beyond Advertising from Adrian Ho – Adrian's presentation to the Brazilian APG (must have been a blinding conference)

Not sure if either of these qualify as suitably plannery, (being about music and mobiles) but here goes:
    Unknown blogger:

    Stephen Fry

I’ll second Gareth’s, also my vote for top deck of the year (no not the shandy). Not too far ahead of yours though Neil.

Nick, Tim – just a reminder that you’ll be able to vote for proper in a few days when I’ve got all the nominations. Don’t forget to let me know if you want to nominate something tho.

Yes please to the Hall of Fame idea Neil. Just because it will make my life easy (and ever richer of course).

Not sure if this qualifies but people sure had some fun with the idea of the SIX WORD RESUME, a take off on the six word story by Hemingway. http://blogs.jobdig.com/wwds/2008/12/30/the-six-word-resume-contest-its-a-meme/
My favorite six word resume so far:
“As I live, so does Apple.” Steve Jobs

Thanks for the nominations – it’s now closed. Couple of things of a couple of the nominations:
GL Hoffman – I’m afraid one of the (vague) rules I set when I started this was not to let anyone nominate their own posts… but thanks for stopping by and for the nomination anyway.
Graeme – I haven’t included yours this time around only because I’m trying to keep it focused roughly on the ‘plannershere’ and subjects vaguely related to it…but a great couple of posts nonetheless so thanks for taking the trouble.

Ok, now I embarrassed myself. I do this a lot, my kids say.
