Love this. Right now, Gavin Bate is sitting looking at the biggest mountain in the world preparing to climb it. Gavin's Irish Everest exhibition is aiming to summit, weather permitting, between 10th to 30th of May. This'll be Gavin's fifth go at the summit after four eventful previous attempts and he's doing it to raise money for his charity, Moving Mountains, that helps street children in Kenya and Nepal ("I may be climbing a big mountain but it's nothing compared to the mountain those kids have to climb every day"). His fundraising page is here.
I came across Gavin's story via a photo he tweeted of Everest Base Camp and then Christian pointed me at this post from the Cybercom blog (Cybercom have sponsored his base camp) that is a shout out to the Irish digital community – in return for some killer ideas to help PR & promote his 5th Everest summit bid, Gavin is offering to big up the blogger with the best idea via a picture and a mention from the highest point on earth. I've suggested something, so you never know – there might just be a Dead Fish on the summit of Everest.
You can tweet Gavin (he's currently at 23,000 feet) and Cybercom direct with your idea using the #cyb10 hashtag. More here and here.
***UPDATE***
This has gotta be a first…a tweet of thanks from 23,000 feet:
