Fraggl 2.0: A New Design, and a New Algorithm

Fraggl

A year ago we launched the first version of Fraggl to our Alpha testing group. Since then, working with the smart folk at AdaptiveLab, we have made a number of improvements to the service, run a couple of experiments, and our list of subscribers has grown well beyond our expectations. Over that time we've delivered millions of individual links to great content to our users, and our vision of combining different forms of curation (human, social, and algorithmic) still holds true and has worked brilliantly to surface the best content shared on Twitter.

But people's behaviour changes and algorithms need to change with them. One of the interesting things about our journey so far has been tracking these changes and, alongside user feedback, equating that to changes that we need to make to the algorithm in order to keep improving how it works.

So today a brand new version of Fraggl is launched. We've refreshed the design to give a cleaner presentation of content, and we now pull in descriptions of the article into the email to aid with context (one of the most requested features). And we have a revamped algorithm that will make it easier for us to make ongoing tweaks, blending different ranking factors in response to user behaviour. We've been testing our new version over the past couple of weeks with our Fraggl Pioneers group (thank you Pioneers), made some tweaks as a result, and today a new version of the algorithm goes live. We're really excited about how the product is developing.

You can read more about our changes over on the Fraggl blog, and if you'd like to get the best links in strategy and advertising delivered fresh to your inbox every morning, you can try it out by signing up to Fraggl here.
