Google Firestarters 20: Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Intelligence Augmentation (IA)?

It's not usual for us to tackle the same subject concurrently in the two streams of Google Firestarters events that we run for planners and for the performance marketing community but for our next two events we're making an exception. There's been such a huge focus on AI, automation, chatbots and robotics in the industry recently that we thought that it would be uniquely interesting to come at the subject from as many different perspectives as possible. 

So, on 21st June, 6.00pm at Google London we'll be running our next planning Firestarters focused on this theme and we have five rapid fire talks of 15-20 minutes to give us as broad and provocative a take as possible. On the bill we have:

Tom Chatfield, Author and Designer. Tom is the author of six books exploring digital culture including How to Thrive in the Digital Age and Netymology. He speaks, writes and broadcasts around the world (TED, The Guardian, Cannes, BBC) often focusing on the evolving relationship between humans and machines

Paul Chong is the Director of Watson Group at IBM

Dr Nicola Millard is the Customer Experience Futurologist at BT

Stuart Turner is a robotics expert, and the founder of Robots and Cake. Stuart's talk at last years Dots Conference was one of the absolute highlights of that day.

Rushi Bhavsar is a planner at Grey, and a WPP Fellow. I saw Rushi give an amazing talk on AI and culture at the recent APG Strategy Conference and that too was a highlight.

And on 28th June, 6.00pm at Google London we'll be running our next Firestarters for the performance marketing community, looking in more detail at the role of automation, AI and chatbots in digital marketing. Speaking on that evening we have:

Ashley Friedlein, founder Econsultancy. Ashley gave a fascinating talk at the recent Future of Digital Marketing conference on the role of chatbots in digital marketing

…and two perspectives from a couple of the smartest performance marketing agencies out there…

Tom Manning, Head of Paid Media, Forward 3D

Lottie Ison-Hobday, Head of Search, Brainlabs

It's going to be fascinating getting such a wide scope of viewpoint on such a burgeoning and rapidly evolving area so I'm really looking forward to both events.
